we move toward, but not beyond,
what we can imagine.
What we assume, expect, or believe
creates and colors our experience.
By expanding our deepest beliefs
about what is possible,
we change our experience of life."
Dan Millman
I have found in my life that I live up to expectations whether they're from someone else or expectations I set for myself. The problem with this has been that too many times the bar has been set pretty low, sometimes even kicking up dust. They say the first step is acknowledging the problem and now it is time to start raising that bar.
always a good plan.
ReplyDeleteWords of wisdom. I could not agree more wholeheartedly. I too, am guilty on many occasions of being an under-achiever. Classic. I'm comfortable with my status quo, but enjoy a swift kick appropriately placed every so often. :)
ReplyDeleteThat needs to be read again and again to seep into the thick brain. Very good post, thank you thank you. I love that picture, too.
ReplyDeleteIf you could do anything, what would you do? If you know the answer you are already lucky. Then it's just a matter of bravery....
ReplyDeleteI think it's important to keep the bar set to a place we know we can reach and then nudge it a bit with our toe to give ourselves something to strive for. Love this photograph by the way...I can see myself running down that bridge/pier and just flying high into the water (checking first of course that the water is (a) deep enough and (b) warm enough!!)
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by.....
ReplyDeletethis is a beautiful photo and you're so right about where that bar gets set sometimes....I try to keep raising mine a little each day !!
{we used to live in cary, nc....one of my favorite states ever to live}
Beautiful image and thoughtful post. I think I need to raise my bar higher sometimes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! Beautiful quote. Something I need to take another look at, as well.
