Freezing (Update)

I awoke to a light dusting of snow this morning. I thought we had missed out on the snow that blew through the south this week, but I guess it had just a little left. This gives us two snows this winter, and although I am not overly fond of snow it has been nice to see. Somehow the snow makes the cold seem not so miserable.

Well now I have some pictures to post. We will be warm again by the end of the week and I can quit whining. I will be thinking of all of you in colder climates, and wishing you sunshine and warmth.

It is freezing here right now. With the wind chill I think it's the coldest I have been this winter, and yes, I know I am a wuss. The weatherman said that it is air dipping down from Canada. I had to post this because I follow a lot of blogs from Canada and a few actually follow me, so thank you very much guys. I have two questions for you. One - how do you survive up there and two - can you take it back now? I do not have a picture to post because I am huddled in a corner with my little space heater.

  1. Maria, it is so cold here too! I've been coping by taking hot showers all day, but now I've used up the hot water. I've been in my pj's all day under the covers, it's the best I can do. No work today though! That makes it all worth it for me:)

  2. You are most welcome Maria!! :) It's really cold here now too (Toronto/Southern Ontario) and it will drop even more tonight and tomorrow it's expecting to be about -31 celcius with the windchill. Now THAT'S cold baby...it's been one of the coldest winters we've had in a long time. More snow on the way too I hear. Snuggle up!!! :)

  3. Maria, thank you for your kind comments, the link to my blog and your recent e-mail. All is well. The cold? It never really gets easier to bear. It's important to get out in it as much as possible, though, and try and enjoy it (winter sports, etc...). At this point, I'm waiting, and enjoying the longer light-filled days.

I loved your heart-shaped hoof marks! And I totally relate to farrier visits, they always seem important, and it is a very satisfying feeling to have their feet attended to (and we always remark to ourselves, how well the horses handle the farrier visits-it helps to have an experienced fellow and even-tempered horses!). Take care. Stay warm!

  4. Hey Sweetie,
Good ole NC weather. 14 tonight and mid-upper 70s by Saturday.

    Layers. That is the key.

  5. Nice n' warm n' sunny in the Vancouver BC area today! No complaints! Mind you we did odly enough have a snow storm last wednesday... odd. It's all gone now and im hoping it stays that way. Spring is on the way!

It's never easy to keep warm wiht the brutal winters we get. I should know! I don't have a nice warm house with plenty of insulation. I have a trailer. I've lucked out and it hasn't gotten too drafty in here this winter. And it's been one of the coldest yet!

  6. I had to go do a temp conversion Sherry, that's -24 F is that right?
I would never leave the house and Sheila there definitely wouldn't be enough hot water.
I'm sure the winter sports make it more fun and if you are used to it more than we are. We go up and down, up and down. I am definitely looking forward to near 70 this weekend, what a change.
Natarojo, I saw your winter storm pic, beautiful, I'll stay with just the dustings though.

  7. We're actually quite mild on the east coast of Canada where I am. We get more rain than snow, although this year we got some of the white stuff. It does look pretty though, doesn't it?

How do I survive...layers, hotpacks for my feet, fireplace, hot tea, warm furry critters on my lap. And, prayer, lots of prayer.
